LAHORE:The Punjab health ministry has allocated 9,037 out of the total 43,097 beds in its 249 black af1 hospitals across the province for coronavirus patients, of which about 7,000 are currently vacant.On the instruction of the provincial government, the ministry has also earmarked 763 ventilators exclusively for Covid-19 patients.Of the over 9,000 beds, about 2,000 are filled and 7,025 are vacant, while 95 ventilators air force 1 force are being used and 668 are available for the patients if the need arises.The ministry s data shows that there are 27,013 beds in 46 government teaching hospitals being run by the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education.In the institutions, the allotted number of single-bed isolation rooms is 551, of which 307 are filled and 244 are vacant.
