ISTANBUL:Hong Kong lawmakers on Tu air force pastel esday unanimously passed a domestic national security bill, in a first since the semi-autonomous region was returned to Chinese rule in 1997.All 89 lawmakers voted to pass the bill, which will take effect on Saturday.After it takes effect as law, the Safeguarding National Security Law covers 39 offenses divided into five categories: treason insurrection, incitement to mutiny and disaffection, and acts with seditious intention sabotage external interference and theft of state secrets and espionage.The 212-page bill under Article 23 of China rsquo s semi-autonomous region rsquo s Basic Law was submitted to the Legislative Council for deliberations and a vote early this month.Read also
